The Armitage Foundation
In 2018 Leanne Armitage joined forces with Daniel Huf to co-found The Armitage Foundation. The Armitage Foundation is a charity committed to increasing diversity across UK medical schools. At present, 50% of the schools across the UK do not produce a single medical applicant! The Armitage Foundation is working to change these statistics so that the medical profession better reflects the diverse society it serves.
The Armitage Foundation provides medical outreach programmes designed to inspire, equip and increase the self-confidence of students from low socio-economic backgrounds and certain ethnic minorities. We believe in a long-term intervention approach, as the vehicle to creating sustainable change. Currently, we are in the process of developing a 3-tier programme designed to support students from year 8 up until their application to medical school in Sixth Form.
