The Armitage Foundation
In 2018 Leanne Armitage joined forces with Daniel Huf to co-found The Armitage Foundation. The Armitage Foundation is a charity committed to increasing diversity across UK medical schools. At present, 50% of the schools across the UK do not produce a single medical applicant! The Armitage Foundation is working to change these statistics so that the medical profession better reflects the diverse society it serves. It does this through a medical outreach programme called Leanne's Amazing Medics. This is a 6-session programme designed to inspire, equip and increase the self-confidence of year 9 students from low socio-economic backgrounds and certain ethnic minorities. It is also in the process of developing two additional programmes in order to offer students a continuous and long-term intervention.
